4 years straight by Gawi and our 5th anniversary!
I had a sore throat and almost lost my voice 2 weeks ago because of too much shouting, screaming, shrieking and everything else you can think of that involves abusive use of pharynx and larynx. The other thing besides Brad Pitt which can cause this act is the UAAP Cheerdance Competition. It is a yearly tradition for us , I-2, to gather and watch the competition together in one place. I was even surprised to see July and Josh dropping by. Well, that was because July needed to attend a VTR at Cityland which was just one block from our place. There she was, looking gorgeous and ready to face the cameras when all hell broke loose. Nagwala ang lola mo! Hindi ko talaga kinaya ang eksena namin...The neighbors might have thought we were being gang-raped or we were seeing evil spirits lurking in our place...
Now, the following are just plain observations and opinions of a mad Gawi fan...Violent reactions are welcome, though. =)
I will no longer go into details with some of the teams. I'll go straight to when our hands felt sweaty, when goosebumps ran up and down our spines, when nothing could be heard but "AAAAHHHHH!!!!!". First, Adamson's performance was great! They had been performing well for the last few years. We were amazed when we saw their Hawaiian-inspired Nestle Non-stop cheer. We laughed our heads off when NU (which performed after Adamson) used the same song for a few seconds..."Why do birds suddenly appear...everytime you are near..." by The Carpenters. Kinda reminded me of the Spirit Fingers in "Bring it on". Next, FEU...just walking distance from our Alma matter. We had this theory that some of their cheerdancers would go to Espana, peep through some of the holes in our gym and copy the steps they see. But then again, that is just a theory, nothing more, nothing less. Their choreography was excellent this year (as well as last year's). Of course, there's UP, our greatest rival (in cheering nga lang..coz in basketball, I have to admit it..talunan talaga kami!). I did not like the costume, velvet kasi eh. Stunts were executed smoothly and the crowd was really wild! These groups performed before UST. And to be honest, we were really expecting for the worst to happen. Then came our turn...Our courtside reporter announced..."And now, welcome to the Salinggawi Dance Troupe Show!!!" In fairness, medyo mataas ang confidence level! I liked last year's costume better. They did not execute any floor routines...as in yung mega gapang sa sahig ang eksena. Probably because they had use those before and they wanted to present something new. Overall, without being biased or anything, they were excellent! They wowed the audience with their Non-Stop gimmick. My words will do no justice. Roar 4 More indeed! Wait for them next season...Something to look forward to!
And good luck to you, dear July on your TV commercial! Hope you get it!
On our 5th year.
I don't wanna be cheesy or anything but here it goes...
Sweetpea,
Thanks a million for staying.
Let's see...another 5 years, perhaps?
I'm sorry for being the drama queen that I am. I simply can't help it.
Love you!
